Mary R. Snyder

Chief Executive Officer,  UnitedHealthcare

Mary R. Snyder

Mary Snyder is the Chief Executive Officer for UnitedHealthcare’s Medicare business in New England. A life-long champion for the underdog and natural problem-solver, Mary has built a career helping start-ups thrive, turning around underperforming organizations, and transforming businesses bringing in the talent and capabilities necessary for long-term, sustainable success.

Mary’s expertise spans business development, strategic planning, marketing, communications, and P&L management, across a variety of industries. Her passion took root in healthcare more than a decade ago with the acceleration of healthcare reform, and the need for insurers to transform their relationship with consumers. Today, as the daughter of a mother in her 80’s who requires 24/7 care, which is given by her father who is also in his 80’s, Mary’s passion around healthcare is laser-focused on the needs of older adults.

Mary is a five-time UnitedHealth Group Innovation Award Winner. She is a member of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer for UnitedHealthcare of New England, and President of Oxford Health Plans (CT). She sits on the Executive Committee for the Greater Boston Walk to End Alzheimer's, and spearheaded UnitedHealthcare’s partnerships with the Maine Council on Aging, the Tri-state Learning Collaborative on Aging (Maine/New Hampshire/Vermont), the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism, and the Olympia Snowe Women’s Leadership Institute. She holds a B.A. in English from Boston College.

Mary and her husband, John, are empty-nesters (except for their dog Jack!) with four adult children. Together they enjoy traveling, boating, biking, cooking and any time spent outdoors embracing the New England seasons, especially by the ocean. They live just north of Portland, Maine.
