Eric Herbek is currently Chief Managed Care Officer at Mass General Brigham. In this role, Eric is responsible for the overall payer and managed care strategy for the Mass General Brigham System; including oversight for the financial and administrative performance of fee-for-service, value-based, and risk contracts across private and government payers. Eric has over 20 years of experience working at Health Plans and Large Provider Systems.

In this role Eric was responsible for business strategy at MDLIVE, an Evernorth Company, focused on enabling growth, product innovation, and affordability.  

Prior to Mass General Brigham, Eric was Vice President of Virtual Care, at Evernorth. In this role Eric was responsible for business strategy at MDLIVE, an Evernorth Company, focused on enabling growth, product innovation, and affordability. Prior to his role at Evernorth, Eric was VP, Product and National Contracting at Kaiser Permanente. In this role Eric oversaw KP’s National Product team accountable for Product Portfolio Strategy, Product Development and Management, and supervision of Strategic Initiatives targeted to improve KP’s product portfolio. Eric also had accountability for the National Contracting Team, responsible for over $1B in spend across all KP regions, including oversight of Network Relationships, Transportation, and Durable Medical Equipment. 

Prior to joining KP, Eric spent 14 years at Cigna, including leadership roles in Product, Informatics, and Underwriting. As a Senior Director of Product Development, Eric was responsible for the launch of key customer facing initiatives such as Cigna’s One Guide Concierge product, and the Cigna Health Matters product suite (Digital Health + Incentives solution).   

Before joining Cigna, Eric was a member of Arthur Anderson’s Global Corporate Finance consulting practice, responsible for advising companies in bankruptcy and other distressed financial situations. Eric also served for five years as an officer in the U.S. Air Force, serving in program management and financial services roles. 

Eric is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy (B.S., Engineering) and Wright State University (M.B.A., Finance).
